Nanoscale Science and Engineering
Thrust Leaders: Roop Mahajan, Tom Campbell
ICTAS research in Nanoscale Science and Engineering is dedicated to the understanding and control of matter at the nanometer scale, with an eye on developing new materials, devices, and systems for a wide spectrum of
applications in electronics and computers, medicine and health, aeronautics and space explorations, environment and energy, biotechnology and agriculture, materials and manufacturing among the pervasive impacts of
nanotechnology.
- Environmental Nanoscience and Technology (ENT): responding to a need to relate a vast array of nanomaterial properties to their potential environmental exposure,
biological effects, and ecological consequences.
- Nanomaterials including Carbonaceous Materials: pairing molecular building blocks of nanocarbon materials with the creation of carbon nanotubes and devices for technology such as photovoltaic energy cells.
