Welcome to the NCFL at the Virginia CRC
The Nanoscale Characterization and Fabrication Laboratory (NCFL) is approximately 16,000 square feet of laboratory space with instrumentation for bio- and nano- characterization. Located in the Corporate Research Center adjacent to Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg VA, it is operated by the University's Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science (ICTAS). The state-of-the-art facility is housed in a dedicated building designed to shield sensitive instruments from environmental factors such as building vibrations, stray electromagnetic fields, and temperature fluctuations. It operates as a service center with a cost structure tailored to serve the needs of researchers from Virginia Tech and from the surrounding industrial community. The facility is staffed with instrument specialists to train users and assist in the operation of the equipment. The NCFL building (also known as ICTAS-A or Research Building 22) is in the Corporate Research Center adjacent to the Virginia Tech campus. Here is a Google Map to get you to our driveway. The NCFL is a new building at the end of a long driveway off Kraft Drive (the driveway looks like an extension of Pratt Drive where it intersects Kraft). The building does not appear on Google's satellite survey yet, so this link with pictures might help you find the front door.
The Blacksburg Transit operates an express route between the CRC and the university's central campus. The bus runs every 15 minutes between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (30 minute frequency from 6:30 p.m. until end of service at 9:45 p.m.).
