  • Engineering Dean’s Awards for Excellence presented for 2007-08
  • Congratulations are extended from ICTAS to Rakesh K. Kapania, leader of the ICTAS smart vehicles theme area and a professor in the Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering , appointed the Norris and Laura Mitchell Professor by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors during the board’s quarterly meeting March 31, 2008. The Mitchell Professorship was established in 2006 through a gift from Norris and Laura Mitchell.
  • ICTAS congratulates RV Davalos, GJ McGraw, TI Wallow, AM Morales, KL Krafcik, GJ Fiechtner, Y Fintschenko, EB Cummings, and BA Simmons, authors of the publication entitled "The application of insulator-based dielectrophoresis polymer microfluidic devices as particle separators and the impact of dynamic surface coatings on performance" which was featured on the cover of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, vol 390(3), pp 847-855 February 2008 edition.
 

The focus research areas in the right column are defined as a major interdisciplinary research platform with a team of 16-20 faculty and 30-40 Ph.D. students pooling talents to conduct stellar research with a goal of generating $6-8 million in research expenditure/year from external sources.
